Who are we?

// Aaliyah Crawford (she/her) – General Coordinator

“My name is Aaliyah, and I am the General Coordinator here at FASA! I’m in the fourth year of my Print Media BFA, and have been involved with and have contributed to a variety of our groups, organizations and publications at Concordia, such as the Queer Print Club, Art Matters Festival and Yiara Magazine. My involvement with these and other groups has brought me so much happiness, fulfilment, and experience and I am hoping to share that excitement with you all. Through workshops, by-laws, advocating and lots of emailing, my goal is to enrich the university and community experience of all Fine Arts students. I hope my work can contribute to making you all feel connected, excited, supported and welcomed this year!”

// Joel Young (he/him) – Club & Services Coordinator

“Joel Young is an artist, writer and cultural worker based in Montréal, Canada (Tio’tia:ke). Joel grew up in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and received a BA in English Literature from Mount Allison University in 2012. He has been a supporting musician for musical groups such as Legal Vertigo and Protruders. In 2018 he published an online fashion and architecture magazine ( as part of Emploi Québec’s Jeunes Volontaires program. Joel was the 2020 Financial and Administrative Coordinator for the Art Matters Festival Concordia, and is currently completing his BFA in ceramics and intermedia. Joel’s artistic practice is inextricably linked to community building and actively supporting anti-oppressive policy building within contemporary art institutions.”

// Anni Jefferson (they/them) – Student Life Coordinator

“Hello! I’m Anni. I’m this year’s student life coordinator and I couldn’t be more excited to serve the fine arts student body at Concordia. I moved to Montreal from Nova Scotia to pursue an undergrad in Art Education and am currently in my second year. Last year I was a member of the FASA BOD as well as the undergrad rep for the ARTE department. These positions have given me the opportunity to experience many different aspects of what it means to be a part of the fine arts community. This to me, is what is most important-that everyone be able to feel included as a part of this vibrant and passionate group of people. I plan to continue to build up our community of artists throughout the coming year. I am honoured to work alongside such an amazing team and I’m beyond excited for the year to come.”

// Maddi Berger (she/her) – Outreach Coordinator

“Hello! My name is Maddi, and I am this year’s Outreach Coordinator at FASA. I am currently in my fourth year at Concordia, and am majoring in Print Media with a minor in Irish Studies. I grew up in the United States, but moved to Montréal in 2017 to pursue my love for the arts. Over the past few years, I have been involved in many student-lead organizations across the University, such as the QPC and the FARR BoD. My involvement with these groups has allowed me to connect closely with the fine arts student body at Concordia, which I am extremely fortunate to be a part of. When I’m not in the print studios, I enjoy hiking, making music, and writing. I’m looking forward to spending this next year getting to know all of you through FASA’s social media platforms!”

// Sue Callender (they/them) – Office Coordinator

“Hi I’m Sue, FASA’s office coordinator. I’ve been in this position for a year now and just wrapped up a degree in theatre and communications studies. I’ve also gotten to work with the VAV Gallery as their outreach coordinator and with the Fine Arts Reading Room as a research resident. I keep my spare time for writing and staging theatre and I look at my practice as a site for solidarity building, especially amongst QTBIPOC folx. I have done a lot of grant writing in my day and know the resources around Concordia pretty well so please feel free shoot me an email if you’ve got any questions!”

// Lili Kong (she/her) – Finance Coordinator

“Hi everybody! I’m Lili, a fourth year student of Painting and Drawing, and I do ceramics as well. You could always find me on the third floor either in the basement as I spent my total university life in my beloved VA building! Now I’m having a new location on the second floor and in a new position as Financial Coordinator in FASA. I’m happy and honoured to give back and serve our community by this way. The last three years studying experience as fine art student taught me that it is essential to have healthy and safe working process for an artist, so I would like to work for people’s awareness on it and a better environment in VA building. Also I’ll fully support and help every FASA member for their art projects either on self-expression
or society-contribution. I’m here for you in 2020-2021!”
