Book Submissions: Darkslide V

February 13 - March 10

The Concordia Photography Collective invites you to submit individual images or series to the fifth edition of our annual publication “Darkslide”. This year, the book carries a theme: Dust.

At its core, Dust is, for all of us who work in photography, a perpetual source of frustration. Each of us is engaged in an ongoing struggle with those particles trapped between the analogue and digital realms which we all inhabit.

Dust within the context of “Darkslide” is concerned with the psychological intent, concrete result, and the final resolution of the photographic process. Dust is about residue: about what we leave behind and what we are made of. It denotes a cycle of creation and destruction. The inevitable result of a process through which all things must pass.

Dust comprises our world entirely, infinite and seemingly indistinguishable at a glance, much like photography in our era. We are bombarded day and night with images of the extraordinary, the bizarre, the shocking, and the everyday, the power of the individual image lost in the storm. But the right grain of sand traveling at high speed can, as these images we produce, cut through the din.
